Amazon.com and baldur's gate II defective products. They said sell faulty item to someone else!

I purchased Baldur's GateII at christmas for my son. We have had
continual problems with the game as many other people have on there tech support site. We have contacted the creators of the game. Explained the problem and followed the directions they have suggested to fix the problem. The game still remains unusable. There is no possible way to fix. There is no problem
with our operational system the problem is in the game and its programming.

We wish to return it for our money back.

There answer from Amazon was to sell faulty merchandise to someone else on there site.

Greetings from Amazon.com.
I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your software. Unfortunately, we cannot accept these items for return after they have been opened.

However, you may want to consider selling this item on our Auctions orzShops site. You may be able to sell it for close to what you originally paid for it. If you are interested in trying to sell this item, please visit our online "Seller's Guide."

My response:
Concerning baldurs gate. How would you know until you opened and played the game that there was a problem? The computer is a barley a year old it is not the computer it is the program. I disagree with your policy. It has a malfunction and I paid a heavy price for a faulty item. I know that you should take it back. What disturbs me is that you do not know that. Good business is not handled this way.

Why would I not conceder it wrong to sell a faulty item to someone else? That tells me that you see nothing wrong with this. I would not auction or sell an item that I was aware had a problem. What's up? My rights of receiving a goods in functional condition in a fair exchange have been violated by you.
