I can no longer trust this product

In may i purchased a laptop from best buy. It was a lower end Toshiba laptop with a 17" display. When i got it home it was cracked on the left side of the case and did not have the specs that were listed on the sale slip at best buy, so best buy replaced the unit with a laptop that better suited the specs. When i got that laptop home right out of the box it was coming apart (literally coming apart) but i had let the 14 day exchange policy lapse not knowing best buys exchange warranty and when you live 100 miles from them its kind of hard to get back right away.

SOOOOOO, after dealing with toshiba for some time nearly 1.5 months they decided to replace the A305-S6843 with a A305-S6845. After about a week and a half I recieved the new laptop and right out of the box it had issues, toshiba did not couple it with a 64bit os like it should have had to function properly. After quite a few phone calls they finally decided to send me one, one in which i still have not recieved and its been a little over a month now.

It overheats with temps in excess of 140 degrees farenheight on the palm rest, over 155 coming out the cooling fan area. The system is a dual core so with both cores running it gets hot but when one core is disabled it gets a little cooler but not much. The hard drive due to all the heat is starting to fail, half the options do not work such as the biometric scanner, the webcam, ect... After a short while of this overheating issue the laptop started to smell like burnt electronics.

I then called toshibas customer relations dept and they said that I would have to send the computer into the service depo to have it serviced. Well I do not think i should have to being as the system has already been replaced and this is a new system. She stated that there is nothing that they can do other than send it into the depo. I requested the number for toshiba corporate headquarters and she said they do not have a phone number they just accept mail inquiries.

Now that does not make any sense as to why a company would not have a corporate headquarters phone number being as they are a multi billion dollar company, i mean what do they do at this company use pnumatic tools to get memos around? Anyway that is beside the point. The fact is that toshiba does not take care of their customers, they will not replace the laptop and will not do anything to refund my money. It is disheartening that a company that people put their trust into will not take care of their loyal customers.

So as it stands right now I have a 1500.00 laptop that is basically not a laptop nor a computer just a overpriced hot plate. The keyboard is faulty, the system overheats to extreme temps, the hard drive is failing, it smells like burnt electronics, the webcam does not work half the time, the biometric scanner does not work half the time, the dvd-rw multi drive is so hard to open its worthless, the screen has this white effect or over brightness effect that cannot be resolved by moving the screen or adjusting the video card properties, and the fact that I still have not recieved the replacement OS cd's which is going on a little over a month now is just obserd. This company needs to fix these issues. And if that means replacing this system with a better product then they should do so. I am threw dealing with the satellite line i can no longer trust this product.
