My husband and I are looking for a home to rent. We came across a great home on craigslist. After it was all said and done we were being scammed by scammers from another country. Its almost scary to think they got some private information, but evryone beware. I have seen reports on these type of scams, but never thought it would happen to us.
This is how it almost started:
Hello Linda,
Your rental appliation has been approved.
Total deposit is $1200. Which includes the security deposit and first month rent.
Payment should be sent to my secretary via western union money transfer today

Address: 827 Carile Ave
City: Cotonou
Country: Benin Republic
Once the payment is received. I would send the agreement document and then keys subsequently to you via fedex express
I await the ten digit western union mtcn number so we can proceed

I wrote back and told him it was a scam, he replied of course.

I have the bogus passport information and all. I really hope he does not use our personal information he got from us to hurt someone financially.
