Hughes Network Systems, HughesNet, Directway Add me to the long list of people being screwed by Hughesnet

Hughes Network Services AKA HughesNet, also ripped me off!

The website that I was viewing at the time I ordered HughesNet had their phone number and a box displaying a $200.00 rebate! I was real excited because living in a rural area the only options we have is HughesNet or Wild Blue and to be able to save $200.00 off the $400.00 setup fee was a big deal to us.

I was told (by HughesNet) after installation to send in the receipt paid in full and I would receive my rebate! When I asked the installer for a receipt he said that I would be receiving that from HughesNet themselves and that I didn't pay him anything.

So, worried that I wouldn't get my rebate I call HughesNet to ask how this all works and was told that after my second bill I should fill out the rebate form and I would receive my $100.00 rebate, she also directed me to the form online that I needed to print and fill out! When I went to the webpage of the form I told her I needed the rebate form for the $200.00 rebate. She acted as if she knew nothing about a $200.00 rebate... After explaining my story to her she still acted like she knew nothing, so I asked if I could speak to her supervisor! After being put on hold for a long period of time this other person (not sure if it was a supervisor or not), proceeded to tell me about the different companies that sell their service and that each of them give different rebates at different times.

Of course when I called in to order service I didn't know that other companies sell their service and was not told about the different rebates offered by these other companies! Even though you are looking at HughesNets website and it is their phone number listed above the box containing the $200.00 rebate that doesn't mean that you are getting that rebate. I was really upset and explained my situation to this person, they responded by telling me that I wouldn't be getting the $200.00 rebate, so I asked if I could speak to their supervisor. I was told that I would have to call the corporate office the next day!

Being the nieve person that I am, I still thought that if I talked to the right people that I could get the rebate that I deserved, ha ha! After waisting another 2 hours of my time explaining my story to the people at the corporate office I was asked to hold for yet another supervisor! I think at this time they decided that I wasn't about to give up and obviously they were not about to give me the $200.00 rebate so they terminated my call!

You know after having HughesNet service for 4 days and spending a total of 4 hours on the phone with customer service fighting for the $200.00 rebate that I should have received, I've decided that maybe I don't want to deal with them for the required 24 months! I feel as if I've been deceived from the day I called in to order it!

Not only do I feel that I was deceived by the rebate, but also, I was assured that my children would be able to play on line games! We purchased XBOX live the day that our service was installed, the speed is not good enough for
them to play, so that was another wasted $50.00.

I'm going to cancel my service before my 30 day trial period is up, but I'm afraid that I will still have to pay the installation fee, and who knows what else they will add! What would happen if I cancel the credit card that they have on file? I don't want to get into any trouble or have this hurt my credit rating in anyway, but I don't feel as if they were being honest from the beginning! I wish I had found this site prior to ordering HughesNet service.

Please help us customers who made the mistake of signing up with HughesNet
and make other potential customers aware of the misleading, dishonest practices they are using to sell their service!
