GODADDY.com Ripped off on auto-renewal AFTER canceling with CSR over the phone

I just wanted to share the horrible exerience I had with GODADDY.com and their customer service representatives right up to and including the Office of the President.

My customer ID is 11249071

On October 30I received and email stating that I had a domain set to auto renew in the coming weeks. I no longer use the domain so I CALLED godaddy's customer service office to have the renewal cancelled. Spoke to a customer service rep and was assured all was handled, no issue.

Fast forward to January 9... I log into my paypal account to check the balance so I can make a purchase and low and behold I see that on November 14 godaddy charge me $19.09 for the auto renewal that was cancelled in October with a rep from godaddy.com as outlined above.

Unfortunately In November I had an extremely traumatic eye injury that nearly killed me. I had a fractured orbital bone and my right eye was completely crushed. Due to the severity of the trauma I was nearly sedated and bed ridden for over 20 hours a day. Since then I have endured several surgeries of which the recovery involves sleeping face down for over 20 plus hours.

Just recently am I able to function and have re-gained some very blury vision so I have begun to go back through my life and get stuff taken care of.

Upon learning of this November charge, I contacted godaddy via telephone yet again, to resolve the issue and have my money credited back. First rep I spoke to was of little help, told me they could just cancel the auto-renewal so it didn't happen again as their refund period was only 15 days, I explained my circumstance as outlined above ony to be told he couldn't help. He transfered me to what was suppose to be a supervisor, but turned out to be just another rep who told me the same thing except the period was 30 days. Angered and annoyed I asked for a supervisor.

After a 15 minute wait, Ricky, the Team Gray supervisor got on the line. I went over the entire scenario again and was told that becasue it was over 45 days there was nothing he could do. He pretty much read off the same script as the other reps and offered little assistance over any ordnary rep. He advised me that there was no record of me calling on October 30. I politely informed him I was looking at my detailed phone bill of that 29 minute phone call. He had no answer. I also asked why I had to turn off the auto-renew myself even though the first rep told me he would handle it. Again he had no answer.

At that point I informed Ricky that I intended to file a small claims suit in my home state of NY if godaddy would't refund the $19.09 I told him it would seem ludicrous for godaddy to spend the money to fly a rep to NY to defend a suit for a measily $20 plus fees. At that point Ricky began reading off some silly script about legal matters blah blah blah. He refused to give me his supervisors name and when asked for a phone number he merely gave me the same customer service number I already had.

No big deal... I googled the office of the president and not only found a working number but also found this site as well:) Ironic isn't it???

Upon phoning the office of the president I spoke to Salem and went over the entire scenario. Salem in true godaddy robot fashion merely rinsed and repeated the same script I had heard 3 times over. Kind of makes one wonder why there are more than one level of service. He told me I never called in October and that it was my own fault for let the 45 days pass away. Ironic he would make such a statement given the circumstance. Salem went on to tell I was free to file my small claims suit and my complaint with Rip Off report as well as the BBB. Additionally I informed Salem that I work in the communication industry and that I would NO longer use or refer godaddy for ANY service to any of my clients. He said he was fine with that.

I informed Salem that it was astounding to me that a company such as godaddy would have a business model that includes spending nearly $1000 to save $19.09, not to mention the potential business loss long term. His answer - OK have a nice evening too!

What a joke... Blame the recently blind guy for their company not doing what they said they would do over the phone. I know I called, I have the phone bill to prove it. I have no other accounts with godaddy so I know what I called for. That alone will get me the 50.1 percent I need to prevail in small claims, and in the mean time godaddy could give a rats ass.

There are other companies out there!!! I certainly intend to use them
