I listed a motorcycle on a Saturday afternoon around 3 pm. The fee for 7 days was $ 40, - Ebay offers the option of choosing the point in time when the listing should start or you can check a box that says "start listing immediately".
I checked "start immediately" and was wondering why nobody had viewed my listing at about 10 pm. I searched my item using the search engine and it was not showing up. Ebays customer service explained to me that now they are doing something that they call "indexing" that means that someone has to look at the listings and check if the listing is fraudulent.
Until the listing is indexed it won't show up but the time runs. That means that it is up to ebay when your listing becomes visible for others but you pay for each hour that passes without anybody being able to have a look at what you are selling.instead of ending the listing at the point in time when someone decides to clear your listing, the listing ends exactly 7 x 24 hours after you submitted it. If your listing becomes visible a day later you pay 1/7 of your fees without getting anything for it.in my case this would be $ 5,70.
Ebay does not make this clear when you post your listing, they want you to believe that you are in control of starting the listing. Since they are doing this with everybody they probably cheat sellers of millions of $ for listing time that they are not getting.
