There is a new fraudulent website popping up online everyday! Don't believe me? Check out google.com/products, search for a gadget like a digital camera or an ipod and then try to find the lowest price. You might be surprised at how low the price you find is until you investigate the website that's offering to sell it.
I've recently seen three fraudulent sites selling nothing but scams in the last few weeks. I imagine these scam artists are feeding on the holiday shopping rush. One of the ones I checked out a few weeks ago is already down. MegaCameras.com. Another I just saw today is wdelectro.com claiming to have great prices on electronic mechandise.
The one I'm writing about in this report is EasyProds.com. That site had deals that weren't too good to be true, but were better than most other sites. I should have known that it was a scam when the only method of payment they offered me was Western Union. Now I am in the middle of getting my money back... Great time of year to be dealing with that. Live and learn.
One thing I noticed is that ALL three of the websites I mentioned above have a similar appearance to the website. All three have text under the item title that states when the item was added to their website. The checkout sections look identical. And even some of the clipart graphics for the contact pages and checkout page are similar. It's like they all used the EXACT same templete to quickly throw up a website that they can just as easily tear down.
I was surprised that blowoutcameras which was second domain linked to megacameras.com went down since it even had a working forum. EasyProds.com has a customer review page which looks like success stories other customer have had with the site. I foolishly placed the order using Western Union and am now in the process of correcting that stupid mistake. The site EasyProds.com is STILL up and running (as of the time I'm am posting this.) And my order is still listed as "pending" even though the email I got confirming the order stated it wouldn't be longer than 24 hours until my order shipped.
Interestingly, someone on the other end responded to my emails before I placed an order, but afterward I haven't received my order or an responses. I've even left voice messages; although I'm not even sure the number listed is correct.
At this point I've stopped shopping at website I don't know. The only websites I continue to use are one's with whom I've had success in the past. Unfortunately, finding the best deal is becoming more difficult. Hopefully one day some of these scam artists will be put in prison and find out what it's like to be sodomized by a 200 lb man.
