I am surprised to find myself even writing this report. This individual, whom I have met personally and even bought from before, decided to defraud me via an eBay auction from mid April of this year. After sending payment immediately by cashier's check from my bank I have now waited *4 months* without receiving anything. I have made repeated attempts to resolve this matter, and have only gotten a variety of empty promises, but never has an item been actually shipped.
For anyone reading this who bids on eBay auctions for musical instruments, especially rare electronic instruments, avoid this individual like the plague. I made the mistaken assumption that he could be trusted. He even has come up with a questionable story about having a serious life threatening illness, which was the reason for the selling the item in question in the 1st place. I have my doubts as to whether this story is legitimate or not.
What makes this story even more terrible is that the amount is not enough money to be able to pursue it, given the cost of civil litigation. I have been advised by an attorney that it is probably not worth pursuing, even as a small claims action (he is located in CA, I am in OK). I am pursuing the possibility of fraud charges via the Modesto police department.
For me $6,300 is a lot of money. I think it would be for many people. I have had fairly good luck on eBay, but I am sad to say that I am disappointed but not surprised. Fraud it seems is rampant, even amongst those you think you can trust. I have found through conversations with others that have dealt with Mr. Quintana that his reputation is questionable at best and has apparently defrauded others.
Lee, if you are reading this I challenge you to file a defamation suit if you believe any of this is untrue. I guarantee you it would be met in kind with a legal harassment suit to match and far outweigh anything you can dish out.
Perhaps a serious illness is a way of God sending you a message? - I'll let God be the judge of that.
