I first became aware of Cyberwings thought Web Hosting Talk - a bulletin board many people frequent to find web hosting. I purchased a small account in March after reading good report after good report (apparently many solicited by Cyberwings owner, Shawn White).

Because the prices were so cheap, I was very cautious at first. However, with good service over several months I got sucked in and purchased a very large account to the tune of $330. However, things did not go so well this time. I purchased the account in June and in June the servers slowed way down to the point they were not useable and then on July 3 went down completely.

We were all promised it was only momentary and things would be fixed and negotiated after the long week end. All the problems were blamed on the line providers.

Days went by without much communication. Cyberwings staff all denied having any information but assured us time and time again that it was being worked on.

Next, more servers went down - this time ones hosted in Texas. No explanation was forthcoming as to why other than as with the original servers, we were promised the issues were being worked on and the servers would come back soon.

Finally we were told the servers would need to be moved because negotiations hadn't worked out. Many more days without communication of substance followed. About mid-July, Shawn White, self proclaimed CEO of Cyberwings offered everyone who wanted one a refund which was promised to be processed within 10 days of request. We were given an email address and information which needed to be included with the email request.

I requested a refund on July 21, following the instructions to a "t". Several days later, Shawn announced there was now a new refund procedure and that we all would be required to request a refund AGAIN. This time, it was promised that all refunds would be processed by August 9.

I "spoke" personally with Shawn White through IRC chat and let him know that I planned to hold him to his origianl promise since I had filed my refund request prior to the "new" rules. Shawn instructed me to file again and I would get my refund.

I filed the refund request under the new producures on 7/26. I received a small refund notice from 2Checkout a couple of days later ($35 of the total $330 that I am owed) and the remainder of my refund request was put on a "hold" status.

Time and time again I have requested but not received information as to why this "hold" status. As mentioned, I have received no response.

The only way to communicate with Cyberwings at this time is through an IRC channel #cyberwings. When I go there, frequently the channel is on moderate so that none of the customers can send messages. When it is not moderated and I ask about the status of my refund (in a polite manner) I am almost instantly kicked and banned from the channel.
