Compudirect tried to sell my mother A Dell 2005FPW Monitor. It was misleadingly advertised as a new "open box" with a 3 year warrantee. Price was much lower than other vendors. The ad was purposely deceiving, and my mother fell into the ad trap. The monitor arrived as a refurb with scratches, and it was also defective. The box it came in looked like it was run over by a truck, poorly repacked.
This item was previously returned by another customer. I have no tolerance for fraud, deception, waste and abuse and gave Compudirect a chance to correct the situation. I was not so upset that the monitor was defective as I was the misleading ad. I demanded an RMA and a refund.
At first they refused because of their Open Box policy. They finally agreed to do an exchange. I gave them a week. They never delivered a replacement even after 2 weeks. I warned them I would report future deceptive ads on open box items These people have a history of charging a 20% restocking fee on returns based on deceptive advertising in the first place. I have no tolerance for bait and switch ads, especially after they pulled one on my mother.
After many hours on the phone and countless emails, we returned the item and they claim have refunded the charges on my mother's credit card. They continued to run deceptive open box ads. I told them I would expose their practices if they didn't cease and desist. They have since taken the ads down. I hope that the people at Compudirect have learned their lesson. I hope that in the future they will deal more honestly with their customers.
I warned them before that if they didn't make things right I would post their errors to the web. So here they are! Live and learn! Something needs to be done about these jokers. They have ripped off a huge number of people with their shoddy merchandise. Perhaps they will now make some changes for the better in their dealings with their customers, but I'm not counting it. The sad thing is I gave them several opportunities to correct their error.
I spent hours on the phone, sent them several email warning them. They didn't listen. They have now threatened me with legal action and claim they have the Cleveland police involved for "harrasing" their company. However, their threats will not prevent me from posting my experience with these jokers.
