Tiny print, big unauthorized charge to credit card Ripoff Nationwide

After seeing the friendly Video Professor on TV, I was sure my son would be easily able to learn about a computer and since the first lesson was FREE, if he couldn't, no financial harm done.

I ordered a lesson by email, acknowledging a charge to my credit card of $6.95 for shipping and handling. I had the disks sent to my son's address for his birthday present. He was too busy to look at the disks so I emailed Video Professor to cancel any additional installments.

My credit card bill arrived with the agreed upon charge for shipping and an additional charge for $79.95. Upon calling Video Professor, I was told that if one didn't send back one of the three disks in the original package within 14 days of receipt of the disks, one was agreeing to pay the $79.95 charge. Needless to say, I was outraged. I asked my son to show me the packaging of the disks.in exceedingly small type, they stated that policy.

My complaint is two-fold. I happen to read and write English and have a son with good enough eyes to read small print. Because I complained and they had mailed it as a gift, they refunded my money. However, if someone didn't have perfect reading vision or were not close to a mother-tongue English speaker, there's no chance they could have know about that policy. What they are doing is despicable. Unfortunately, I guess we have to teach people to beware of friendly faces on TV.
