Re: Order No. I6221257XXXXXX

Dear Sirs,

After having attempted for file for the two rebates on the two items I ordered from you via a special on-line promotion that I received from you, it has become obviously apparent to me that the whole thing is a scam. A great deal of effort has been made on your part as well as your rebate? Expediter? OnRebate.com to create as much confusion, special requirements, lack of supply of the information and forms you state are required to allow the customer to comply with the myriad requirements.

I have purchased many items from reputable companies like HP, Staples, Freys, Best Buy, etc. And it has always been a very straight forward process taking 5 to 10 minutes at most. I have always assumed that rebates were a legitimate way of offering discounts. But now I know better. This is simply a hoax by Tiger Direct to get gullible persons to purchase items at accelerated pricing with no intention to honor the advertised rebate.

To mention but a few of the obstacles for the benefit of others that they may be forewarned I include the following partial details. (I do attend to send copies of this letter as well as copies of my email correspondences and your and OnRebates responses to all the named parties below.)

First one is required to go online and obtain an? Offer Code? For each of the products you purchase requiring a rebate. This is accomplished by doing a? Search? Using your order number and identifying the product by the manufacture company, type of device, etc. For one of my items I went through every single category using all the search alternatives, and it simply was not listed.

Next it is highly recommended that the rebate be filed both on line, as well as by mail. Supposedly this will help the customer track his/her rebate through the considerable system. A rebate form is needed for this. When I went to the TigerDirect rebate site I located the items, but when I clicked the window for viewing the rebate form so I could print it out as required, all I could get was a blank screen. This was true for both items. I tried this off and on for the better part of a day.

When I called OnRebate to email me the forms I received an email with telling me basically to follow the instructions (six pages of fine print). I was also ridiculed by the person at OnRebate who said she had told me how to do it three times (untrue) and got a great deal of pleasure by saying in a sing-song manner? Have a nice day? It was very evident I was getting the stall treatment.

And if I had ever succeeded, it is necessary to send each rebate form in a separate envelope to the same address.

And you can't really return the merchandise because the customer is hit with large handling and restocking charges, insurance requirements, shipping, etc.

My experience has been that legitimate rebates do not operate in this manner. It is obvious that as many difficulties as possible are being placed on the process by Tiger Direct and their conspirator OnRebate.
