Approved Rebates, but no Payment Ripoff

Yes, I'm mad and victimized by a suspect industry. I will resist the urge to rant, although that would be therapeudic. My experience is simple. For one of those bundle computer deals (with over a dozen rebate items) I meticulously provided rebate forms and proof of purchase (photocopying them). I received OnRebate.com confirmation of rebate approval. Twelve weeks later I only had a few, smaller checks. Upon e-mailing OnRebate.com, I received no answer. Upon calling OnRebate.com, I reached an operator who said the items were held up for security reasons. The agent explained their concern that someone was using my identity to file rebate claims. However, all my rebates were to my address versus an alternate and suspect address. The agent released the hold and indicated I should be paid in 10-business days.

If this was a legitimate action by OnRebate.com, I would have been notified. It appears that OnRebate.com was manufacturing a reason to hold payment and would have been happy to avoid it all together.

If I get my checks as promised, it will be 15-weeks. I know what OnRebate.com would say if my submission was late. I think the same 100% liability should apply per week that they are late.

I generally have good luck with OnRebate.com. However, it's like dealing with someone you can't fully trust. Things work fine as long as you are careful and watch carefully.

I just have to decide if the rebate management overhead is worth it.
