Stores-on-Line
Misrepresentation, high pressure sales tactics

We attended a seminar where we were pelted all day with how easy Stores-on-line software was to use and anybody could get a web site up and running and making money in just days. We then committed our funds.

We were shown an elderly lady (not as old as we are!) with no computer experience who had built a web site quickly abd nade a lot of money with the Storesonline web sites. Although one of us is a computer programmer and the other is a retired data base administrator, we spent 3 months putting in at least 10 hours each, every week, and were never able to get a suitable web site built. That is why we find it hard to believe the story about the lady with no computer experience. The software was not at all user friendly and we were not able to receive adequate help from the Stores-on-Line personnel.

We have since learned that it should not be that hard (we now have 2 other web sites up and running and it was not that difficult). When we called for help, the customer service personnel advised us they didn't know why the software was not responding to our changes and coding. One person said we had to make changes in the HTML code as opposed to the design mode. Design mode can be used by inexperienced web designers because the difficult HTML code should already be in place. However, we got a book and figured out HTML.

Even then, we still couldn't get the site to say what we wanted it to. So we called again and spoke with a person who told us she didn't know HTML! Stores-on-Line's president, Brandon Lewis, in a letter we received at the seminar, stated Our customer service is ready to assist you all along the way. We did not receive this type of service. We feel that we are victims of fraud and Stores-on-Line used devious methods to take $6398 from us because we are senior citizens.

In Stores-on-Line limited warranty guarantee, it states that concerning virtual products; it is understood and agreed that given the specific nature of the industry and business for which these products/services are used, and because success depends on the purchasers ideas, products, services, prices, and how effectively the purchaser promotes them, the company offers no guarantees of marketability or success. We did not even get the opportunity to promote or market using any of our ideas as we couldn't get the site built and could not get the help we needed as was promised in the president's letter.

This sequence of events caused us frustration and the loss of time and money that we had invested. Because they didn't live up to their promises, we feel that we should have our money refunded. Since then, we have basically just been dropped with no contact from the company to even check on our progress. It leads us to believe that their only purpose was to get as much money from attendees as quickly as possible.
