Rebate ripoff

I experienced another onRebate.com rip-off similar to the ones reported here.in my case, fully aware that you need to dot every I and cross every T, I went out of my way to make sure everything was signed and the UPC code attached.

I had purchased an expensive TV through TigerDirect that offered a $100.00 rebate, a lot of money. OnRebate denied the rebate because I submitted only one bar code label, not two, which was not clearly stated on their rebate form.

Their defense, of course, is that they supply a sample picture and that it's all my fault... Too Bad. They fail to mention that no matter what pdf reader you use to print out a copy, the picture itself does not show on the final printed form, just the words "Sample Image" in place of the picture.

However, the worst part is this; I called them, a little confused as to what was required as I sent in the UPC sticker that had the serial number of the TV I had purchased on the sticker itself. The woman said, "There's another sticker." I said, "Ma'm, there were three stickers, two were exactly identical and the third was the UPS Shipping label UPC sticker owned by UPS. I sent you one of the two identical stickers that had the serial number of the TV on it. I double-checked the serial number myself."

She said, "Sir there is another sticker on the box."

I said, "Ma'm, there are only three stickers, one belongs to..."

At that point she hung up on me. I firmly believe that this was not accidental.

Of course, at that point I called TigerDirect as well as Olevia, the TV mfg. The Olevia representative told me that this is not the first time they have had people call them about problems with onRebate.com and they went out of there way to ensure me that they had nothing to do with this company.

TigerDirect told me they also had no control over these people, and after I sincerely threatened to return the TV, even if it cost me money (I hate being hung up on), they said they would help me out with a partial credit.

I feel that both Olevia and TigerDirect were fair and honest, but after being denied a legitimate rebate and making every effort to remedy the siyuation politely, and then being so rudely treated by the phone rep at onRebate.com, I will do everything I can to find out who hires these people and I will complain about them within every venue that is open to me.
