Paypal has ripped off two of my friends in the same way so I know that it is a regular practice.
They wait until you have banked with them for quite a while and then first chance they get to close account, they will and will not release your money for 180 days, (six months). At that time you must request your money.
This is a legal rip off in the way that I am sure that it is in their small print but the rip off part is they will not allow you any explanation or rebuttle of the reason they closed your account and of course they are gaining interest during that 6 months on your money. Since this happened to 2 of my friends it appears that this is a regular practice since niether of my friends were doing anything illigal.
