Empty Game Box and Seller Dispute Both Ruled Against Me

PayPal is the biggest joke ever. They claim that they will protect both the buyers and the sellers, but it doesn't happen.

I've had two really negative occurrences with PayPal. I don't use eBay much, but these two occurrences really set me off in a bad way. The first time, I bought one item on eBay. I paid for it and all. It was a video game. About a week later, I got an empty box. The box had nothing in it except paper and Styrofoam. I immediately contacted the seller. I told him, "Hey buddy, why is there nothing in the box?" He responded once and said, "I don't know what you're talking about, I sent you the item perfectly, it even shows that it came to your house." I was outraged. I filed a complaint with PayPal, and they ended up ruling in the seller's favor, because the package did come to my house and he had delivery confirmation, even though nothing was in the box.

My second negative occurrence was when I was the seller. I sold to a scammer in Oklahoma. I seem to have bad luck with these Oklahoma people; they must all be scammers, or all the scammers go to OK. Anyway, I delivered two video games in two different packages. About two months after I sent the video games, I got a message from PayPal saying that they were holding my money until this case got resolved. I checked this person's recent feedback, and it showed that he had been getting a lot of negative feedback, calling him a scammer. Apparently, with everyone he dealt with, he filed for a refund and claimed that he received no packages whatsoever from all of the 20 sellers or so. His eBay account was also shut down, and he was no longer a registered user. He also refused to contact me at all, because, as we all know, PayPal tells you to work it out yourself and communicate. I sent numerous emails and messages to this individual with no response whatsoever. Eventually PayPal ruled in this person's favor. I guess plain old delivery confirmation is just not enough. I've learned the hard way to have everyone sign for their packages, no matter what.

I've only lost about $100 from using PayPal, but being the indebted college student that I am, every little bit helps.

If PayPal is going to claim that they are safe and protect both parties with their PayPal protection program, they certainly should protect their customers. They make a huge profit; they charge about 3% on all money that goes through their system. If they transfer a billion dollars a year, that means they make 30 million dollars just from transferring money. That's way too much money. They need to be controlled or shut down.
