Rip-off Please Read Before Considering AOL ISP! It is appalling that they are STILL GETTING AWAY with tapping into people's bank and credit accounts making UNauthorized charges!

I am taking the time to post this in a sincere hope of saving even ONE fellow consumer from the hassles of AOL! It is appalling that they are STILL GETTING AWAY with tapping into people's bank and credit accounts making UNauthorized charges!

This is important: ANYone who has accepted AOL's free service trial or purchased anything from them in the past would be WELL ADVISED to cancel or change the account that AOL has on file! (And from what I read, even THAT is not a guarantee!) These insidious little fees have been known to re-start when least expected!

Please pass the word!

My personal loss to the company added up to around $500. Don't laugh! About a year ago, I listened to a caller on The Clark Howard show over the radio. The caller was calling for advice on getting a refund from AOL for over a YEAR of AOL charges that were not authorized or noticed by the caller. I kind of chuckled to myself thinking how careless that caller must be with his banking account! Hello!!?! I soon discovered that I was doing the exact same thing!

So, just take the time to read around this site — or do a web search — before thinking it could not happen to you! Honestly, it could happen to anyone! Here on usacomplaints.com, the AOL complaints go back to 1999!

Many thanks to consumer complaints! They have posted very good advice for disputing unauthorized charges with a bank or credit company. WISH I'd thought to look here before popping that little free AOL disc into my computer!

Just FYI
I am presently a member of one of the numerous class actions against AOL. Not very hopeful of a refund — as AOL has all the down-pat answers and lots of fine print that they justify their actions with. Hey, if I DO get a refund — I just may use the $ take a huge complaint ad out in the USA Today or something!

Best to all!
