My refurbished HP Pavillion I got from Frys died while still under warranty.
So we take it back, and they give me a Compaq loaner for a week.
After calling us several times in their attempts to extort a "partition restoration fee", which we refused, they finally called and said the compter is ready.
Frys "service" department always trys to rip-off customers. If it isn't them managing to corrupt the installation partition and charge you for it, it's their bullsh! T 25 dollar "cleaning fee", weather you need your computer cleaned or not. Every step of the way their "service" department does everything they can to find SOMETHING to charge you for the useless hunk of metal of an under-warranty item.
Refuse these obscene advances from them at your own peril. This is what happened to us.
After we made it clear that we were not paying for the "recovery partition" on either crappy computer, they decided that the computer wasn't ready after all. And told us to come back tomorrow night. So we have to make another trip, had to take the loaner back early, and have zero faith in Frys support department at this point.
A note to whoever runs Frys support and returns departments: customers arn't impressed with employees that stand around and whine about how hard life is just because they've been asked by another employee to do more than one thing at a time. One guy was running some tests and decided that being asked by a support tech to deal with a returned loaner pc was just way beyond his abilities. We stand around and watch this little hissy-fit, and then the tech comes back and tells us our computer isn't ready after all.
Why not? They called us and told us it was. Somehow I doubt that this PC is going to be right, not with this group of boobs pawing all over it.
