Landmark Merchants
Ripoff promises made, but not kept

I want everyone to know what is going on with Landmark Merchants!

I was looking for someone to build a website for me, I have no knowledge of html, but wanted to sell my products on-line. Landmark seemed like an interesting idea, so I looked into it.

I was contacted by a Matt Dwyer, who seemed very nice and helpful. I asked him a lot of questions, and he cheerfully answered them. I had explained what I was looking for, which includes, but is not limited to, someone to build my site, and help me manage it.

I specifically asked him if I would be able to work with the builders to get what I wanted. He said that they work hand in hand with me to build my site. Then he proceeded to tell me that if I wasn't satisfied with the site once it was built, I could have them redo it as many times as it took to get what I wanted. He even went a step beyond that to tell me that I could also have my site redone in a year or so if I just wanted a new look! Sounded good!

I also asked if I would own the domain name of my site, he said that as soon as it was built, I would own it! The domain and site.

I proceded to sign up. Big mistake! I was directed to a site where I entered all of my items, including several pictures for each. I choose the categories, price, pictures, everything! At this time, I was still very positive.

Well I finished entering everything and submitted my site, adding notes and references as to what I wanted. For example, I had entered several pics for each item, as I said before, and wanted it set up to where when the customer clicked on the main pic, which was the one with the description, the other would come up, showing more detail of the product. Which, by the way, Matt had also told me I could do by simply adding the secondary pics as a new product and leaving the name, price, and sku the same, but with no description. So I thought it was all good. I had done exactly as I was told.

A couple days later I was notified that my site was finished! I logged on, and you can imagine my surprise, and dissappointment, when the site was nothing like I had described! On the front page there was one large picture of one of my items and of course the usual contact, products, about us, and policies. Ok, not too bad, right? Well then I clicked on the products and was taken to the first page. There was one picture for each. I tried to click on the pic, and of course, couldn't. They had chosen one pic which represented that product, my others were gone!

Needless to say, this wasn't what I had asked for. So no problem right? I could simply have it re-built! After all that's what Matt had told me!

Wrong! I contacted the web designers, which, by the way, can only be contacted through e-mail, and told them that this wasn't what I wanted, reinerated what I did, and sent it out.

They wrote me back that they spend a total of 2 hours on the site, and then are done. Well this isn't right, Matt told me it would be re-done! So I responded by telling them that. No, they don't redo anything... Sorry! So ther was one promise that was not true!

I then logged on to DNS to see if the domain was in my name. Well surprise, surprise! It is not! It is owned by landmark merchants! My name is nowhere to be found!

So I go to the phone and call Matt. He'll help, after all, he was so nice! Voice mail. I have called him and left messages at least 13 times in the past 3 weeks, voice mail! I even called and tried to threaten with a lawyer. Voice mail. No call backs, no nothing!

So now I am wondering if he even exists! I called customer service, and they tell me that he has nothing to do with customers once they are signed up! Well, what happened to, "if you need any help, just call me!" So much for that!

So I have learned that I do nor own my domain name, I am stuck with the crappy site they built for me, and I have no help in these matters.

I am in a contract with them for 48 months to lease a credit card terminal, which I don't need, (after all I do not have a physical location) but had to get to sign up and get my site built. Matt had also told me that if this didn't work out, I could have them buy out my lease and sell it to anouther customer. So I called to have them do this. Another surprise! They don't even hold the lease! Now how are they supposed to buy it back if they don't hold it? I'm outa luck! Thier suggestion: sell it on e-bay.

I have contacted customer service about this, and they send me to the voice mail of a manager who never calls, and suggest that I write an e-mail, that doesn't get answered.

I want someting done about this. I am tired of people running scams on the unsuspecting, like me!
