I tried their 1 month of FREE service in or around Sept./05. While setting up my acct., I made a mistake so changed my sign in information. Immediately, I called their customer service and explained the situation and wanted to verify my acct. Wouldn't be charged twice. The man verifed it. On Oct/26/05, I found I was infact billed twice so called customer service and the man admitted my acct. Was billed twice and assured me it would be credited by canceling the one acct. This should have been done upon my 1st call to them.
Also, per this Oct. 26 call, I tried to cancel but they were persistant to the point I couldn't get a confirmed cancellation out of them so I went ahead with the free trial period until Jan. 6/06 that they offered me but told them I didn't want this and would be calling back to cancel another day when I had more time.
I waited and no credit was given so I called my bank for confirmation of the transaction (s) made on 10/06/05. The accountant at my bank said she was going to send them a copy of this herself. I sent my copy also and asked for a refund. A 6 page transaction detail was sent to them clearly showing this overcharge.
I called PeoplePC several times asking for my credit. Each time it was the same old line. "we will get that taken care of". Until one day I got a man who refused to believe me and I was being as polite as expected. He was exceptionally rude and deliberately hung the phone up on me. I did call back one time later but have given up on their customer service since.
The amt. Is so minute at $5.47 but for me at that time and still, it is money I could use and legally is mine and this company should not get by with these deceptive practices. I am surprised that they are still in business with the many legitimate complaints. It's so apparent they are running a racket and amazed they haven't been stopped.
