DELL Computers
Ripoff, Systematic Sales Scams Web We

A while ago I ordered a Dell Computer on-line with some telephone support. What an experience! Be very wary of this manipulative company

They lured me into a 10% discount if I agreed to finance my purchase through Dell Credit. So they got my Social Security no., home address, phone no. E-mail account and other private information and I agreed to multiple pages their "terms and conditions".

When I later checked my e-mail after the purchase I found a new "Welcome New Customer SBC Internet Service" message. I had never read or spoke to anyone at Dell about signing up for this service, (I have no doubt their lawyers buried it in fine print somewhere on the numerous Dell screen pages I had to agree to.)
I already had internet service and would not have agreed to it. I did review the webpages carefully and honestly have absolutely no recollection of agreeing to this arrangement at any time and never knew SBC was anyway linked to a Dell computer purchase at all.

After spending many hours on the phone with SBC and DELL reps on the other side of the planet, I was finally able to get the SBC internet service cancelled, although they had a major attitude about it and treated me as if they were providing me a rare exception as a big favor. What do know happened next? - - the 10% discount dissapeared from my order. This was a scam no question about it.

Scammed me once

And get this - - when I finished the computer order with all the complex add-ons needed to build a decent system their online-ordering process totaled up my balance and gave me a final price. I hit their "Buy" button and received a message saying that my computer was purchased but the real "final price" would be determined later and my credit card would be billed for this "final price" amount. Please remember that this happened with an on-line system that calculated the supposedly bottom line price as I added or removed features. Sure enough when I got the credit card statement later the final price was higher. I called to talk to the nice people in India to inquire the Final Bill and was only able to leave a voice mail asking why the charges were higher. Two months later I received a call from someone at Dell who could not explain why I was billed for more that the price I agreed to purchase at, they could not explain why but agreed to credit the balance back to my card.

Scammed me twice

And one last warning - - they will sell you a cheap printer but they program the computer to often prompt you to buy way overpriced ink cartidges which supposedly only they can sell to you. Their cartidges seem to run out out ink after minimal printing. This is also a scam. (I have no doubt that other vendors do this also.)

Dell Computers manipulates customers to milk all the cash they can out of you. It would be nice to see large-scale businesses conducting transactions upfront and honestly for a change.

SCAMMED ME THRICE - - We are talking triple play here folks.
