RIPOFF False Deceptive Fraud Advertisment $199.99 Toshiba LapTop

I responded to a after Thanksgiving Sale paper add for Circuit City which Advertised TOSHIBA notebook for $199.99. The fine print read "After $350 Instant Savings & $250 Instant Saving with AOL 12-month subscription", "Minimum 15 per store". The Sale paper add also read "Doors open Friday 5am".

Seeing that this was an excellent deal I took off work and awoke at 3:00am and drove across town to be apart of the great savings! I arrived at 4:00 and lined up at the door. There was aprox. 10 people infront of me. One of the storage managers began handing out vouchers for many of their sale items. One set of vouchers were the $199.99 TOSHIBA notebooks. They randomly handed out these vouchers and did not take the first people in line.

At 5:09 the doors opens and the crowd of people pushed their way into the store. I was the 5th or 6th person in line at the Computer Department. The Computer Dept. Manager told me to get out of line if I did not have a voucher because I would not be able to purchase one of the NoteBooks. I told him that they did not hand the 15 vouchers out to the people in the line as they were in order. He said that the store did not recieve 15 of these computer and that several people had been given vouchers at 12am. This was not advertised and several people because uppset. He then called the manager at the demand of several of upset customers.

Paul, One of the store managers showed up shortly and stated that he had handed out the vouchers. He said that I could speak to the Store Manager Raquel. He escorted me to the front of the store were she was standing. I spoke to her about the vouchers and that they were not handed out in order. And that the Computer Dept. Manager had said several were handed out at 12am and that the store did not recieve the full 15 computers as advertised. She assured me that she signed the vouchers at 3am and that none were handed out at 12am. She also said that the store did not recieve but 13 of the computers. She instructed me that I would have to call 1-800-843-2489 and that her store number was 829.

I called the hotline number several times today starting at 6am, and several times after that. I held for almost an hour each time before hanging up. At aprox. 8pm I was able to reach a Circuit City Representive after holding aprox. 30 mins. She first asked for my information then asked me about my complaint. She said that she had documented my complaint and that she was going to call the store manager on the other line while I held. After a few minutes I was connected with Paul, the same Manager from this morning. I told him of my complaint and he asked me if my name was on the list. I asked him what list. As there was not a list pasted around this morning. He said that they had a list of the first 100 customers taken at 6pm on Nov. 25th. Thanksgiving day and a day that they were closed. I asked him why I was told by Raquel that they did not hand out but 13 vouchers. He responded that the store only recieved 12 of the Notebooks. So does that mean they gave a voucher for the Notebook that they did'nt have? I quickly brought it the Hotline Representive's attention that they had falsely advertised a minimum of 15 Notebooks in each store when they only had 12! She said that she was sorry that I did not get on but my name was not on the list of the first 100 people. She was refering to the list the Manager Paul had said they made on 11/24/05. They clearly advertised the sale started at 5am on Friday 11/25/05. She said that they would look into the matter but did not promise to get back with me. She said her ID# was 3519021.

So far there has been several false and misleading details from the Management at the CirCuit City store #829. And while the Hotline did hear my problem I do not feel they have addressed my problem. I will sure to keep everyone posted of their response and action. Let's hope that they will make this right and honor there add.
