I received a letter from Domain Registry of America, which looks like a bill and states that my domain is due to expire in the next few months. The problem is that the domain listed is not my domain. I do own a ".com" address but their letter is telling me that my registration for the ".info" address will expire. This is fraudulent because I do not own the ".info" address. If I paid this bill I would end up with 2 of the same name in different top level domains.
I called their toll free number (answered in Toronto) and spoke with Penal and he advised me that I received the notice because I either 1) registered a domain name with them in the past (I hadn't) or 2) this was a marketing letter and I could disregard it (I will).
To their credit, it did say in 2 places on the form that this is not a bill.
Beware, this sounds a lot like a company called the "Internet Corporation Listing Service", which ran a similar scam.
Finally, I told Penal that their company's prices were very high, between 2 and 3 times higher than I am currently paying.
