Deceptive advertising! Rip-off!

I was told from a friend of mine that NetZero's Internet service was pretty good, however, my experience was far from that. On December 2, I ordered NetZero HiSpeed. When I tried to access the Internet the connection never went through. Thank goodness I didn't cancel my current subscribor (AT&T). At that point I called to cancel my membership that same day with NetZero (two hours later). Mind you, I was taking advantage of the their "free" 30-days trial period.

When I called to cancel my account, I was given a reference number and was told by the representative, "we'll refund your account right away." Needless to say, the credit never occurred. I called back (12/13/04) and was told that my refund would take 30 to 60 days to be refunded. When I refused to wait that long and demanded to speak with a supervisor, I was put on hold for a told of 20 minutes and then disconnected. So I immediately called back and got another representative.

I didn't mentioned the fact I had just called, but instead proceeded to explain the nature of my call. The representative stated the same thing as the first one, "you'll be refunded in 30 to 60 days." When I refused and indicated that they were merely retaining my money to draw interest off of it and that I wanted to speak with the supervisor she placed me on hold. She came back about 5 minutes later and indicated my account would be credited within the next 3 to 5 days.

NetZero service is HORRIBLE!!! Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).
