My daughter bought a poster on allposters.com. At the online checkout, there was an offer to receive $10 off her next purchase by clicking a box. The condition, that she did not read, was that this enrolled her with WLI*reservationservices, or Web Loyalty, and this authorized them to bill her $12 a month for their crummy coupon and discount service.
She says they have e-mailed her a couple of times offering her fairly useless discounts. I'm sure theirs will appear on examination to be a legitimate business. But like membership services through Cendant and others, it's essentially bloodsucking.
After 8 months of this monthly $12 charge, she and I got on the phone together and called WLI*reservation rewards at 800-732-7031. We talked to "Fred" and told him we were looking for a full refund and cancellation of the service. He kept offering to do LESS than we asked. He said he could cancel it.
We said we wanted a full refund. He said he could refund one month's fee. We said we wanted a full refund. After several rounds of this, using polite but firm words, we got Fred to agree to rebate the full $96 for eight months as a courtesy. It was worth a try, and it worked for us.
