Pacific Coast, Inc
Computer Rip-Off / Bait and Switch

On August 1,1999, I went to Pacific Coast, Inc to purchased a Compaq computer 550mb advertised for $1019. However was convinced by a salesman that an A-open 450 MHz, 128mb memory for technical support plus 127.33 tax which totaled $1625.33 was a better computer and a better buy.

However when I connected the computer up on 8/2/99, I discovered that the computer had only 64mb of memory. On 8/3/99 I returned the computer with my complaint. I asked for a refund or for them to replace the computer to the 550mb pentium III Compaq which actually was advertized less than the amount I paid for the 450 MHz. The salesman stated that he would exchange the computer for a 450 Pentium which were advertized for much less.

I then stated that I would have the credit card not to pay. The bank stated that they could not stop payment.

The computer remains at my home unused.

According to the terms and condition of the contract: The store stated that they will gladly exchange your purchased or issue a store credit when returned merchandise is accompanied by a receipt with 8 days of purchase. No refunds. All merchandise Must be in the original factory cartons, with orinal factory packaging and with orignal Blank warranty card.in original mint conditions.

The returned computer met the criteria set by the company for exchange.

I would like comparable computer at todays price (550 Mhz Pentiium III, 128mb memory 19gigabyte hard drive with appreciation or depreciatio as far as price is concern.
