I wish, really really wish that I would have taken the feedback on this website more seriously. I thought it might be a competitor trying to spoil the reputation of Dr Ray Wood (as Dr Ray Wood suggests in his reply). So I ignored the advise and went ahead with the procedure with Dr Ray Wood.
To cut a long story short, Dr Ray Wood told me that it is practically impossible to implant more than 600-700 grafts in a day and that I will require 3 procedures and the reason he charges so much is that it is 7-8 hrs of intense procedure every day and 3 procedures will give me great results and should be more than enough for me. Thinking he is the so called Inventor of FUE, I trusted him completely and arranged for this huge amount of money for the 3 procedures and paid him the initial advance.
Comes the day of surgery, I was advised to be at his clinic at 9.30 AM. I was there before 9.30 AM. I was made to sit for almost 2 hours before they got started on me. Dr Ray Wood came around 12 PM... Spent an hour to take out the 500 grafts... Then he went for an hour long lunch. Came back at2 PM... Spent 1/2 an hour and then went on another break... Basically in the whole day he only spent just around 4 hours on me. He was more interested in showing me his collection of documentaries. So mostly he used to put the DVD on ask me to watch it while he was on phone or on break. I was paying approx $7500 for watching TV and for 4 hour surgery.
Same thing happened in the next 2 procedures. He never spent more than 4-4.5 hours on me during each procedure. During 2nd and 3rd procedure he gave me approx 700 grafts each procedure but the thing to note is he easily (key word here is easily) did it in 4-4.5 hours (incuding taking the hair out).. When I asked him that you said it is intense procedure for 7-8 hours but we are only doing 4 hours, he said you skin is wonderful, hairs are going in easy.
He tried to show me that he is doing me a big favour by giving me 200 extra grafts for free. But he doesnt charge by graft, he charges per procedure and he can easily do around 900-1000 grafts each day (at least on me he could have). The moment the phone rings, he gets up and leaves you, sometimes for over an hour.
In the end he said 'oh, I under quoted you. I should have said 4 procedures for the amount of grafts I have given you'.
But the truth is I believe Dr Ray Wood could have EASILY done this amount of work in 2 procedures (even if he had only worked on me for just 6 hours each procedure). I believe he charged me for one extra day and I will still need to go for another procedure (not with him ofcourse).
Dont let him fool you by saying a competitor is writing this... This is from a person who has got stung.
It's too early for me to say he did a good job (looks like he did with what ever grafts went in), but the amount of money he charges for the amount of work he does, is insane. I want to go to court but what can I say, nowhere it's mentioned that he will spend atleast 6 hours on you and the document he provides does say you will only get 500 grafts. What is doesnt say is 500 grafts might only take 3-4 hours.
