Thanks in part to all of you who posted comments about your negative experiences with Dr. Beltran, I likely avoided an unnecessary major procedure.
A few months ago, my PCP referred me to Dr. Beltran for evaluation of nasal obstruction. Dr. Beltrans diagnosis was that my nose was in a very bad shape due to a fracture, which needed to be corrected surgically. Didnt remember having ever broken my nose, but that could have happened, I thought, when I was very young.
Knowing that repair of an old nose fracture is a very burdensome surgery and given the amount of negative Internet comments on Dr. Beltran, I sought a second opinion right away. I consulted with a reputable surgeon board certified in both ENT and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, who belongs to the same medical group as Dr. Beltran. He diagnosed a deviated septum, enlarge turbinates, and nasal valve collapse, which etiology was congenital rather than the result of an injury. A month ago I underwent surgery to correct these with excellent results and minimal discomfort.
Next step for me is to switch PCP!
