Denied Pain Meds During Treatment

I have been seeing this dentist for the past year. One RTC/Crown and about 6 fillings. Last week a tooth broke and I went in for an appointment. They couldn't schedule the RTC for another 9 days. They prescribed 10 pain pills. I told them the pain level was a 10. At one pill every 3 hours, 10 will only last 3-4 days. I went 2 days without the meds and called 3 days before the procedure asking for a refill. The dentist denied my request via the office manager and she refused to even discuss it with me. I tried to go that night without them and ended up going to the emergency room. As an established patient who has already paid a few thousand dollars in the last year, I shouldn't have been treated like a Junky who was just trying to score.
