False Advertising - Bait and Switch - Deceptive Practices

As a preface, I do want to say that the Dr. At this facility (Dr. Tien Nguyen) is AWESOME. It is a real shame that she is affiliated with this establishment. If she ever gets her own practice or become affiliated with a group not related to Cohen's (that is, if I am not a regular customer elsewhere by then) I would definitely check her out.

Although I am very upset over the practices of this company I can say that I am thankful that I only experienced a loss of $30. I am happy that I was made aware of there deceptive practices early on before I became a regular customer or even recommended them to anyone.

First, it is obvious that either their online scheduling service is crappy and not in sync with this office OR this office is really disorganized. I made an appointment on 5/6 for an exam on 5/7 and received the email confirmation of my appointment. My appointment was a 1:00 P.M. So, I arrive there and am immediately told: "Oh, we tried to call you. We don't have any openings for 1:00 P.M. The next available time is 2:00 P.M." Now, mind you, I NEVER received a call. As a matter of fact, this was the SECOND time this happened; the previous week I made a 2:00 P.M. Appointment and when I arrive the same young lady informed me: "We tried to call you. We just got the fax and we don't have any openings for that time slot. The next available time is: 3:00 P.M."

I should have taken that as a sign but I was willing to give them another chance and I rescheduled my appointment online for the next weekend. Anyway, this time I decided to wait because I figured with the coupon the eye exam is on $29 - why not. Jokes on me.

I informed her that I wanted to use the online coupon for the $29 eye exam. I looked over there selection of frames and was thoroughly unimpressed so I decided to just get the eye exam and my prescription and get frames elsewhere. So, I take the eye exam, get dilated and wait to be re-examined. I was also asked if I wanted to pick out frames. I informed the young lady that I would just be getting an eye exam.

So, she goes on to inform me that the coupon for the $29 eye exam is ONLY if you purchase their frames/lens and since I am only getting an eye exam I would have to pay $59. I was shocked. I can not believe this. No where on the coupon did it mention that. No where on the coupon did it even mention that there could be exclusions to the offer (i.E. Some exclusions apply)

It is really sad that a business would choose to operate like this. I ended up just paying it but I knew then that I would never visit them again. What does $30 mean when you lose a prospective loyal customer. I will make sure that I tell EVERYONE I know, even if I HEAR someone mentioning Cohen's I will make sure to mention how you guys operate.

Thank you for being deceptive upfront so that wouldn't spend more money and tolerate the mediocre for the sake of "saving" a little. Even though no one really saves with you guys.
