After having a terrible time getting a prescription refill order with our military base medical provider in Virginia, I had an even worse experience with an Eckerd's Pharmacy in Florida on it's refill. I went to Florida for 3 months to stay with family with my baby son while my husband was out to sea with the US Navy.
I took my prescription bottle to the local Eckerd's Pharmacy for it's refill before heading out to the west coast to our new duty station. They wrote down the prescription information and threw the bottle away, claiming that they don't have a "system" for keeping empty bottles.
Lo and behold, the pharmacy number they copied down and tried to call to transfer my prescription was to an 800 number autmated system for several military bases in Virginia. Now I don't have my prescription out here on the west coast because Eckerd threw away my original bottle and I can't refill my prescription because with the military dependants' medical system, you have to change your region with the healthcare system, wait to receive your new card in the mail (2 weeks), then wait to see a doctor (another 2 weeks), making me wait for my needed pain medication over a month! I can't call the original doctor in Virginia to redo the prescription because the way it works there is you see a different doctor every time you go to the base. Lord knows who I saw at the time, and the base has also lost my medical file at their facility!
So, WEEDS to Eckerd's for creating this nightmare!
