Kooetenai Memorial Hospital has been getting a lot of "Best Place To Work" press recently.
In fact, this hospital has driven off numerous employees due to poor managemnt, inadequate human resource support and unqualified supervisors. During a time when recession limits job options, it takes a lot to motivate a long time employee to leave their job. Moral is at an all-time low, so where the press gets their information is beyond me! We see this most in our housekeeping department where long-time supervisors were replaced by unqualified and inexperienced people who treat their team members like crap. We have heard these supervisors speak "unspeakables" to their staff... Statements that would get you fired in any other company. Other departments are having the same experience. I am told our Human Resource Dept. Has actually closed it's door to grievences, at times... Unwilling to discuss possible solutions.
Kootenai runs "short" on a regular basis... Particularly on evening shifts, putting staff and patient at risk. Employees are required to cover the work of many and are threatened when the work can't be completed.
Short-handed shifts and disgruntled employees makes for an unsafe/unpleasant place to be a patient. Think about it!
