Failed to replace essential component of portable oxygen concentrator for O2 dependent hospice patient

I purchased a SeQual Eclipse 2 portable oxygen system from DH Medical in March. It took over a month to get it after my credit card was charged.

There is a DC connector unit that allows the concentrator to be used in the car (plugs into the lighter outlet). We used the connector for the first time in early August - it did not work at all. I have called DH Medical numerous times and initially was told "a replacement connector will be shipped overnight". Didn't happen and then I was told "it has to come from California because you have the 2008 model SeQual but it will come overnight". That was on 8/28/09. Needless to say I do not have it and when I call now all I get is voicemail, no person, none of my calls are returned and no response to my e-mails.

I paid $1,995 for this concentrator and got it so my husband (a hospice patient) could have some mobility and get out of the house once in a while. He can't do that if the DC connector doesn't work. It is outrageous that this company is in the medical supply business - heaven forbid any patient ever orders oxygen supplies from them. I got a good price on the concentrator but sometimes you get what you pay for and in this case it is zilch when it comes to customer support.
