I regularly receive calls from a company offering to sell prescription drugs. They mask their phone number so only the following number appears on the phone 852741. When I asked for a web address they said "usonline. Pharmacy2.com"; this is a phony address. I answered a call and a thickly accented Pakistani or Indian sales representative offered a very attractive price on ambien $1.00 per pill.
I stupidly gave my credit card number and the sales rep said I would be transferred to a supervisor to confirm the transaction. He said the supervisor would tell me that the price was $2.00 per pill, but he would only charge $1.00. Alarm bells went off and I immediately told the supervisor that I did not want to place the order. The supervisor became irate and said he was charging my card as we spoke. I said I would immediately call my bank. He replied that he would max out my card immediately.
I canceled the card within a half hour of the call and no charges were were made by that time. There is no way to identify the company other than the masked phone number 852741.
