My wife, Marites V. Cunningham was admitted to the Albay Doctor's Hospital in Legaspi City, Philippines from 09/13/08 to 09/15/08. My wife gave birth to our son on 06/05/08 by C-section and was continuing to have medical problems. All previous bills were paid by Blue Cross but this one. When she was admitted on 09/13/08 she was having high blood pressure and stomach pain. After her birth she experienced excessive bleeding from her incision and her white blood count was high. Since her sister died from leukemia, this was a concern by her doctors.
Blue Cross asked for additional information for here visit on 09/13/08 which I supplied such as an itemized bill, hematology and lab reports, and a medical statement from her doctor.
When additional information was requested on 10/10/08 by Robin Walker with Blue Cross in Washington, D.C., I sent it to her only to found out that on 02/09/09, a month later that the address supplied was incorrect.
On Mar 6 and Mar 12, I mailed the additional information to Blue Cross in Lexington KY again, and now am being told by a Ms Price at BC the claim is being denied since the medical records supplied do not document that this service was performed. Since I have a mandatory deployment to the Middle-East in a few months as a DOD civilian, my family's health is a concern of mine. I have supplied extraordinary additional information then usually provided on previous claims I submitted this year. I am unable to get any additional information from the hospital in the Philippines since they have provided us with all medical records. If Blue Cross isn't paying this claim, what claims will they pay for my wife and newborn son when I am deployed? I pay insurance premiums but get no benefits.
