Had seen an local advertisement in a mailer for inexpensive, non-surgical, permanent removal of stretchmarks for $750 (10 sessions) and photo facial IPL for $105 for 6 treatments. Started rejuv-a-light treatments in june and was told the 10 sessions does not cover entire lower abdomen (belly) each time but to one half only which meant that I have used 2 sessions already each time I went for treatment. Basically I only went there only 5 times to get 10 sessions of treatment which I'm sure they will argue that it will not be enough to achieve any result. The person who performed the treatment was Sherry and the company was then under the name of Sherry's Day Spa located at 1012 Aviation Blvd. But they have since change the name to Derma Tec Day Spas and moved to a new location in the same city. It is deceptive marketing to advertise one thing and deliver differently. As I had paid the money upfront I finished the treatments with absolutely no results, needless to say.
Then I followed up with the IPL facial treatment. I had specifically asked if she cud remove pigmentation from my face to which she replied that she cud and wud do a good job. During this treament my eyes are covered with a goggle as she was using a form of laser treatment. Then she applied some lotion on my face which burned but she said it was sunblock which was strange as I never experienced burning with sunblock lotions. After a few days, I had dark blotches and my skin began to peel. I panicked and told her I do not want any further treatment and to refund my money for the IPL treatment but she refused. She said I was being impatient and shud continue with the treatments over 6 months which I reluctantly did so. This was completed in nov/ dec. She did not remove the pigmentation and no improvement was shown on my face. I was asked what happened to my skin after the first botched treatment and no one noticed any positive change in my skin was because there was none. My colleagues even noticed when I trimmed my hair 2 inches shorter!
I do not know if Sherry is the owner or owner's wife as the company does not list her as the owner. I had looked into going to small claims court but unfortunately was told it has to be the same owner in order for me to sue.
I was not able to even get her last name as her staff says she does not know! It certainly is suspicious when business people refuse to give their last name.
Basically I felt cheated of $1380 which may not be much for some people but it is hard earned money that I had saved up. If she had been honest and told me nothing cud be done for my skin I certainly wud not have paid her. I wud like other people to be aware so they don't fall prey to false advertising/promises.
