If you are planning to go to ISLAND RAYZ Tanning in PSL, Fl do yourself a favor and DONT waste your money! This woman recently bought the salon and kept the prior name and DOES NOT care about the Health of her customers AT ALL!
I went in there last Friday and spoke to the owner for a good half hour about my having fair skin and havent been tanning in over 5 years. Of course at this point the woman was sweet as pie, and advised me that the best 'package' i could buy would be an Unlimited month of tanning and a bottle of Lotion.
She had showed me a lotion that she said was the most affordable one she had in the salon and that it was the only one she had left. I took her advice, and bought the package w / the lotion she showed me.
She had walked me back to the room because she said she had to 'clean' the bed from the last customer. CLEANING is NOT what she did. She Bearly sprayed the headrest and wiped it real quick. DID NOT spray the entire bed-bottem or top.
She put me in for 12 Minutes. At the time i didnt know, but come to find out that this is the MAX a person with DARK skin can go in for!!! After i got out of the bed i looked in the mirror and was MORTIFIED! My face looked as if i was Beat up with Red Welts on my face and my chest and belly was Severly burnt. I didnt even want to leave the room with my face like that!
I went to the front desk and showed her and she acted as if it was 'Nothing!' and told me that it would 'fade away'. And THEN she told me "i mustve applied the lotion Wrong!!!"The customer standing next to me looked at the bottle of lotion i was holding that i had just purchased and said "oh, i just returned that bottle-i didnt like the reaction my skin had to it. (rememeber the owner had told me it was the only one she had left and was selling it to me at a Good Price!)
So-i confronted the owner about selling me a used lotion and she said"I went above and beyond for you and gave you that lotion below my cost, i couldve just put it in sample tubs and sold them for $4 a tub", and then she reufused to give me a refund! -And got Irate and Ugly! It is 5 days later and i now found out i have sun poisoning on my chest and belly because she had put me (being fair skined and not have been tanning in 5 yrs) in a bed on MAX time!
When i went back in (2 days later) to show her the rash all over my body due to this and tried to get a refund on the month i had just bought-she once again was irate, told me she wasnt giving me any money back "but i could tan for free for one day!!!"- and again insisted that i applied the lotion wrong.
After seeing a dr. And finding out i have sun poisoning i now know i should NEVER go to a tanning salon, and have researched sunless tanning lotions. But this lady SHOULD not be able to sell USED LOTIONS that people have used on themselves, OR over expose people and give them sun poisoning!!! Being the owner and operator - and the one that sets the time on the bed she should be knowledgable about how long people should go in.-And she even 'claimed' to be a Registered Nurse! -after i showed her the horrible rash all over my body!
This woman is Completely out to take your money and DOES NOT care about her customers AT ALL! If she WAS actually a registered nurse i guess she was just as horrible at that as she is at running a tanning salon. Selling a used lotion - the Health Dept. Should shut her down! And she should learn how to clean a bed properly!
