I ordered a free trial of WuYi tea. They said in taking this free offer they sent a 30 day supply and within 14 days I was to return it or call them to cancel and return the unused portion. A week later they took from my checking account $59.95 and the next day $4.95 and $6.95. When I called giving them the tracking number of returning the box through the US Postal Service they've said they will refund the money, but it will take 7-10 business days. I've chatted with Megan at their company and she's assured me they have refunded the money. I've reported them to the Washington State Attorney general's office, Better Business Bureau, but may have to cancel my bank account in the end to stop these unauthorized takings. Bank of America has also been notified but really can't do much. I am a very good business person and strayed from my usual business practices trusting that this was a legitamate. Even the Chinese Postal Clerk said he could take me to the Chinese herb store and purchase the exact same thing for cents.
I cannot afford to loose hundreds of dollars to this crook, but you can bet I will never click on a free offer again. I am a member of the Baby Boomer generation and although I am learned about many scams, I will admit regarding the internet I have much to learn. Most people don't have the hours and hours I've spent holding on their phones to recap $4.95 or $6.95, but this guy is totally greedy and I'm not giving up until I get my money back. With the economy being so depressed, we can all expect to have more and more of these scams happening.
One last thing: Beware when shopping in grocery stores. I was in Safeway and a man behind me started to crowd me. I asked him to back off. He seemed to be talking on his cell phone but he was really taking a picture of my credit card. I stalled while calling 911, the police came, arrested him and he had a clear picture of both sides of my credit card on his phone! The clerk had laid it on the counter and in seconds he got the picture. A few days later a $1 charge showed up. I called and they refunded the money so I assume he was hired by some crooks and got a commission for every credit card picture he takes. This is one time I acted on my gut feelings. He was purchasing a pack of gum and something inside told me to beware.
