Titled: Injuries caused by Dr. Joshua A. Halpern that cannot be repaired under current medical knowledge, and surgeons that protect him. And lawyers that won't take your case because they can't make enough money off your lawsuit due to current Florida medical malpractice laws. I want you to know so that you can avoid spending the rest of your life wishing you had
either chosen another plastic surgeon or not had surgery at all.in my case I was in so much pain I had to have surgery and chose the wrong surgeon.
I attest all I have written is true.
All I wanted was some extra fat removed from my lower/inner buttocks becasue it was affecting my posture and causing relentless back. Dr. Halpern
said he could not do that without liposuctioning my hips, thighs, buttocks and knees. My heart said something was not right and that he should be able to do this simple procedure, but I didn't listen to my inner voice and I let Dr. Halpern do the surgery which ended up costing me $8,530.
After the surgery I was told I screamed in the recovery room for 45 minutes. I was told I had to walk to the car, not wheeled out in a wheel chair. I was half way home before I became conscious enough to remember anything at all. My recovery was beyond painful, bloody and long.
Being a disabled veteran and on a fixed disbility income didn't stop Dr. Halpern from talking me into thousands of dollars of more surgery to fill his pockets and empty mine. I have to say in hindsight, that is heartless. Before surgery he acted as though I didn't have a thing to worry about, he was the ultimate body artist. He didn't even listen to what I wanted, he did what he wanted to do anyway and I paid dearly for letting him. Read further.
I knew during my first visit when I saw what appeared to be his blue alligator shoes, a $2,000 suit, and his "I know better what you need than you do" attitude, that I should walk out the door and not look back. But when the office manager took me into her office, the one that Dr. Halpern referred me to to answer all the questions he should have answered, I was pressured to make a down payment now or else it would be a very long wait for my surgery.
After the year Dr. Halpen told me to wait for the nerves to grow back and the pain to go away, I went to another plastic surgeon to see if he could fix the damage Dr. Halpern did to me. He asked me who my surgeon was and I would not tell him becuase I was still looking for a lawyer. He then said I bet it was Dr. Halpern, I was shocked. He said Dr. Halpern is known for talking his patients into much more surgery than they need because some of those patients end up at his office instead. I suspect he got his share of people who were victims of Dr. Halpern's surgical mistakes.
I also told this other plastic surgeon that Dr. Halpern told me just before I was administered anesthesia that he (Dr. Halpern) had performed 14,000 surgeries He told me there was no way Dr. Halpern could have done that many surgeries.
The Damage:
From Dr. Halpern's liposuction I was left with very large painful holes in both my outer hips sockets, and a large dent in one upper buttocks area. I had a nice waist line before, but he took off all my hips and left me with love handles and no waist line. He carved a large V shapped dent down one of my outer legs. All the places he left over exposed are painful to the touch. I can no longer kneel on my knees. The pain is unbearable. And he added one hideous touch, deflated lower flabby outer buttocks that hang down and out and can't be hidden in underwear. The right worse than the left.
If Dr. Halpren didn't let one of his untrained assistants do part of the liposuction, then Dr. Halpern rushed through my surgery and couldn't care less about the way he left me body. After all, who was I to him.
Two years later, I finally found out from a very nice lawyer why no one would talk my case. Because I was disabled. Can you believe that?
By then my 2 years to sue was up and Dr. Halpern got away it.
Florida has monetary restrictions on medical malpractice lawsuits. The lawyers couldn't sue for my lost back wages and no one of them would get involved. Just as bad. Even the other plastic surgeon I saw who said that my injuries could not be fixed, would not testify in court against Dr. Halpren.
In fact, the other plastic surgeon had back out testifying in a case involving Dr. Halpern years earlier. Plastic surgeons stick together even though they know the harm being done by one of their commrades.
In short, Dr. Halpren was sued in 1997. He caused a bald spot on a woman's head from a face lift. A woman at Florida's consumer protection agency told me Dr. Halpern messed one of her male friend's face up in a face lift. Look at how many sites you will pull up when you google Dr. Halpern
and then see if you want to gamble with your own body.
God told me in His still small voice He speaks to us in and I just didn't want to hear it because I was in so much pain and because my friend said he was awsome. If he is awsome, how could he do this to me.By the way
he charged me for liposuctioning the entire buttocks which he never did.
Be careful, cosmetic surgery is such a gamble. And if you want implants think long and hard. They are a foreign objects in the body. Do your research. Really, what you look like is not as important as who you are.
If you love yourself with humility, you will be attractive to others no matter what you look like.
