Went to ER with what turned out too be kidney stone, had blood, urine sample then CT scan (after stone passed, doctor knew this but lets have a look just too be sure) all well no problem go home. Then the bills started showing up, i have no ins. Blue coller worker, what should it cost for a trip to the ER? First $50 for blood and urine tests. Next bill $700 plus for "emergency physician" with a non insured discount dropping this bill too $433, great but then came a completly insane bill for $ 7009!!! Again blood and urine sample and ct scan... The bill had a "contractual adj." lowering it too only $4055 with an itemized list that had every procedure done twice with the ct scan at $3000 and $3355 each? What was this doctor thinking when he sent an uninsured man who he knew had only passed a kidney stone to a $6000 plus scan? I called accounting about bill and was given a phone# too see about setting up payments! Is this the normal price for healthcare? If so the average joe is doomed and will suffer by not seeking medical help early, I will be giving BAYONET POINT HOSPITAL a wide pass in the future.
