Being minority with limited English ability in this country hurts, even typing this report need others help. I went in for a routine cleaning, dentist did not tell me what needs to be done after exam, just sent me to Kyleen (office manager) who used dental jargon to tell me it was important to get this and that done, using cryptic writing on treatment plan and then hurried me back to the dentist to have work started. Only until some of the works were done before making me sign a treatment plan agreement. Apparently dentist there do not look at signed consent form first before they operate.
They did work on me not covered by insurance (that I did not know) and told me that if I don't have insurance, it will cost me $13000, since I have insurance she will charge me only $4855. I paid them $1213.75 and later work out a final payment plan of $727.65 each month for 5 payments to satisfy the balance. They want me to replace 3 front teeth with crowns. They have technician put those temporary crowns on me not the dentist and one of those crowns fell off twice and had to be reglue. I later found out that they actually charged me $580 each for filling 2 teeth! Without billing my insurance.
Anyway, I went back to have deep cleaning done a couple days later and they demanded the 1st $727.65 which I paid because I signed the agreement. But after the one sided deep cleaning they want to increase the payment plan to $782.15 for no reason at all. Kyleen actually acted very rude and said she does not care what signed agreement we have, that's what she is going to charge me $782.15 for 4 more payments and she have no time to talk to me anymore. She even proceeded to white out the payment figure on the original signed agreement and wrote the new figure on there without my consent.
This person is a crook, she thought if she just white out the numbers and leave my signature on it she can do whatever she want. She is dangerous. Since she refused to honor our agreement to start with I am not obligated to honor my part either. I am afraid to go back and I do not want them work on my teeth anymore. Can you imagine what they can do to me when I am in the chair with unscrupulous people like her.
When my employer confronted her 2 days later about her breach of contract and rude treatment of me, she even identify herself as a dentist to him. She is not a dentist as she failed to provide her dental license number to my employer. She even refuse to provide the name of the treating dentist to my employer with me presented. I thought a patient has the right to know the name of her treating dentist or doctor. She even threatened to call the police to throw us out of the office. Finally an office clerk there relented and gave me a business card of the dentist.
Watch out for these people, don't go there, if you do, you need to have them write out all procedures clearly and check with your insurance company before letting them work on your mouth. I later have my employer show the treatment plan to other dentists, they all said I was grossly overcharged. Now I have to spend more money to have other dentist to fix their unfinished work.
I filed an official complaint with the Dental Board of California on these people, go there for details of the case.
