Saw Dentist for cleaning &exam on 2/07. Was given a plan of treatment for a filling & a crown. Was charged $296 for cleaning & exam. The proposed cost for treatment was 1,660.00. I have dental insurance with United Health Care. I had contacted them before I went for the cleaning. They confirmed I would only have to pay $40.00 for the exam & cleaning.
I have a copy of the proposed treatment plan with ahandwritten note from the assistant offering to send a predetermination of benefits from my insurance company. She called to tell me she had contacted them & that they would pay Half of the cost of $1,660 or 830.
I agreed to the treatment. My half of the costs were to be paid up front before treatment, which I did. I have proof of payment. The treatment was done. It was most unsatisfactory. I still have pain which I did not have before. The color of the crown and filling do not match my teeth. They are grey compared with my teeth. They then told me the insurance wouldn, t cover any of the treatment. I was billed for an additional$1,126.00. I checked with my ins.Co. They said that no claim had been submitted, either for the exam & cleaning or the treatment. They also said my plan does not cover crowns and fillings but does cover cleaning & exams.
The Ronald Luke Dentistry is now billing me for $680.59, which they have turned over to a Collection Agency, which is harrassing me with daily phone calls.
This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist or health professional. I would never had agreed to the treatment if I had known the cost of it or the results.
