Fraudulant Business Practices, Purports To Sell Insurance So They Can Have Access To Your Banking Information

To all who are shopping for health insurance, beware of the scam this company has going.

We received a fax advertising very low group health insurance rates from a company called Group Health Care. The rates advertised were extremely competative and my wife would soon need new insurance due to a Cobra Plan she had expiring.

She called the company for more information and was faxed info for insurance through "Beechstreet". The company info seemed legitamite and even had a list of providers in our area.

We had shopped many other insurance companies at the same time and was undecided if this was who we wanted to go with. The agent she had been talking to stressed the rates were not going to "stay this low" and even if she was unsure, she should still complete the enrollement form (including bank info) so he could lock in the rate for her. Then, he would hold her paperwork until a spaciffic date to let her decide.

She decided to not purchase this insurance and called the agent to decline the insurance. He assured her the enrollement would note be processed and insurance would not be issued.

Part of what the agent said was true, he did not enroll her and insurance was not issued. The part that was untrue was the very next day after talking to him our bank account was debited $324.00. We did not know this until receiving our statement. On the statement, the debit was taken by PBC Insurance giving their phone number.

She called the company and explained she declined the insurance and it was not issued. PBC told her to fax a request for refund and she would get a refund in 4-6 weeks.

While waiting for our refund we received our next bank statement a found they again debited our account, this time for $199.00.

Calling PBC again we were assured this was an oversight and if we will again fax a request they would give a full refund.

After waiting several more weeks and on receiving our refund we called them again. This time they stated they never received any fax from us and refunds cannot be issued for prior months insurance.
Knowing now we were dealing with a bunch of crooks we contacted our bank to put a stop to their access to our account.

I'm not one to allow a company to rip me off without a fight so I began calling them nonstop demanding my refund. The customer service agents ran out of excuses so I was told my file was being turned over to the company president Thomas Sullivan and he would contact me personally.

Ofcourse I never heard from him and now being i've called so frequently, they are screening my calls. One of the people I did speak to acknowledged they are aware of the "complaint" so when I was able to leave him a voice mail recently, I told him to expect this!

I've also filed a complaint with the "Better Business Bureau" and my next step is investigating what state agency in New Jersey handles insurance fraud!
