On 10/16/00, Sandra L. Updike, an employee of Sun Health Corporation of Sun City, Arizona was verbally suspended for six months from any work assignments and consideration for full time employment by Mr. Frank Cummins, VP Human Resources for her filing of a grievance against that organization. Mr. Cummins refuses to put that suspension in writing.
Sandra was also advised that this suspension would be reviewed on 4/16/01 and would continue until she could "put the matter behind her". Mrs. Updike has worked in the Sun Health "Floating Clerical Pool" since August 1997.
In October 1999, Mrs. Updike was ordered to a meeting with Sun Health Human Resources to advise her husband through her, that he was harassing a Sun Health nurse and to advise him on the conduct of his personal affairs. She was also told that this meeting had nothing to do with her employment!
Mr. And Mrs. Updike, immediately, separately and respectfully addressed this action by Sun Health to the Human Resource Director in writing and requested responses explaining and/or apologizing for Sun Health's interference in their personal affairs.
Since that time, Sun Health has refused to communicate on the matter and on 10/05/00, Sandra filed a grievance with Sun Health as allowed in their Human Resource directives. She was given an appointment with Mr. Cummins on 10/16/00 and was suspended for her actions.
