I signed-up with 24 Hour Fitness on 3-26-06 through their friends and family program. You get the same plan as the member you sign-up through. My aunt has a $12.99 per month plan fixed for the length of her membership so I got the same rate.
I started working out 3 weeks later without any problems. I went to work-out 5 times without any problems over the next 2 weeks. Just last week (6 weeks after I had joined) I was informed that I had 3-day cancelled my membership! I informed them that this must have been an error since I wouldn't have cancelled such a good plan. They told me that they could just reactivate my account. I told them to do so.
The next time I tried to work out I was told that my membership had been cancelled. I called their 800 number and asked to reactivate my account. I was told that they just needed a new credit card number. I gave them one. I went to work out the next day and was told that my membership was still cancelled.
The fourth time I tried to get this error resolved and was told that 3-day cancellations couldn't be reversed. I told them that I didn't cancel anything. My aunt didn't cancel anything. I asked them why my membership worked all those weeks if I had 3-day cancelled. The manager just game me a pitying look and handed me a flyer with a number to call—to sign-up for monthly membership. The sheer gall of it almost made me want to scream.
