My original bill after heart surgery was several thousand dollars. I have two medical plans. I received notification that the provider (Inland Cardiology) had accepted the Medicare and Blue Cross payments as "Payment in Full" and nothing more was due on the account. I had written documentation from Medicare and Blue Cross stating this provider was "PAID IN FULL". Nevertheless, they wanted $93. I got nasty letters, phone calls, threats to ruin my credit (keep in mind the fact I have a heart condition and really don't need the stress). Finally they turned it over to a collection agency. They called, they sent nasty letters, they threatened to garnish my wages (even though they can't since I'm on Social Security). I sent the collection agency the written proof that this bill was "PAID IN FULL". Nevertheless, I have a negative mark on my credit report that effects my credit rating. The provider was paid 10s of thousands of dollars by insurance. Did they need to ruin my credit for $93??
