LA Weightloss
Ripoff This is a terrible weightloss program

My story started back in April '04. After hearing their ads on tv and radio, listening to "clients" saying how wonderful the program is, how great and cheerleader-like the staff is, how other customers give you high-fives and "good jobs!", I decided to give it a shot. I didn't have much to lose, only 20 pounds. All I needed was a little encouragement to keep me on track and I was good to go and $9.00 a week seemed like a good deal. Well, $9.00 a week came out to $1100. That's right! The comercials don't say anything about a 6 month stabilization period or a 12 month maintainance period. Not to mention that you have to buy all their the LA Lite bars at once.

I still agreed because the gal told me since I was a guy, I could lose 3 pounds a week. The first month I faired pretty good. Lost 10 pounds even though I didn't stay on track all the time. Once the scale stopped going down though, the staff got real rude and bitchy (understandable since most all of them are on this same program). It got to the point where I got in a bad mood just thinking about going into the center. You never get the same staff member twice. Each of them give you different information. One lady said I could lose up to 3.5 pounds a week, another one said, "No, only 2.5 pounds".

To make a long story short, I quit after about 6 months because one of the staff told me I needed to buy more weeks. I laughed at her, told her I wanted all my boxes of bars that I had bought, and never been back.

Just for fun, a few days ago I ate what I ate when I was on the plan and counted every calorie. At the end of the day I totaled it up and came up with 1900 calories. Now I'm 6' and weigh 230 (mostly muscle). I computed out what my maintance caloric needs are (amount of calories to maintain my bodyweight) and it came up to 3200 calories. No wonder why I was so hungry on this "diet". I was starving myself. I wasn't only losing fat (minimal, if at all), I was losing muscle! This program is very unhealthy. Remember, you can still be overweight when you're skinny. Also, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if you cut out salt and carbohydrates (carbs are two parts water), that you're going to lose weight. Although, your weightloss is mostly water and not fat.

All in all, LA Weightloss is full of deception, uneducated and rude staff, and money (your money).
