Linda M Rice was a Nurse Practitioner who saw me in the ER at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital on November 25. I was in a great deal of serious pain and told her very clearly NOT to touch my left arm and leg, which were spasming up, causing the intolerable agony. Ms. Rice glared at me spitefully and with malice squeezed my left arm and leg. When she was done, my left arm moved up involuntarily from a severe spasm. She gave me another spiteful glare and pushed my arm down. Then she told me to go home and keep taking the medication that I had explained I'd had a bad reaction to. The medication (Valium) was supposed to decrease the number and severity of my spasms, but had increased them and made them worse. Severe pain was the result, and its intensity was increasing. No competent nurse or doctor would have told me to go home and keep taking it. But this Nurse Practitioner appeared to get satisfaction from my vulnerability, torment, and pain. She sent me home without trying at all to find out what was wrong with me.
Lina M Rice now works in the ER at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH. I would not recommend allowing her to examine a loved one in pain.
