I will never fall for a "free sample, no obligation" tag-line, again! My Diet Patch.com, whose address is in Augora Hills, Ca., but their product was shipped from IL., claimed I only had to pay a S&H charge of $2.95, in order to receive a "free" sample of their product.
Of course, the ad stressed that there was "no further obligation". After receiving the sample, I promptly notified the company that I was NOT interested in purchasing their product at this time. The FINE PRINT indicated that this was all I had to do to be done with My DIET PATCH.com!
5 weeks later, I received an angry phonecall from my bank, stating that my checking account had been overdrawn due to a debit of $169.95! I knew I had not made any purchase even close to that amount. When I searched Google for My Diet Patch.com - what showed up was an entire web-site devoted to these scam-artists! I couldn't believe it. I felt like a sucker.
I immediately called their customer service # and spoke to a very unhelpful, rude, and linguistically challenged "Richard". He seemed accustomed to hearing the same complaint and told me I would be refunded the full $169.95 within 3-10 days. I was also assured that I would not be charged EVER again.
However, the company did not refund overdraft charges. So, I still end up losing $30.00, not to mention how bad this all looks to my bank! I certainly hope that within the next 10 days I can report back that I have received my refund!
